2007 Match Report – Sun 14th Nov

This Saturday (14th) our 2007 side, including our regulars and 2 Harrys travelled to Meadowmill for the challenge of the advanced 5 - a - side teams in their age group. Gladly the elements subsided long enough for us to enjoy 3 tough games. First up was one of two North Berwick teams, which proved a good test after a slow start with 2 well worked goals from Cameron. We were unlucky not to capitalize even more from some good chances. Then we quickly moved onto a game against the second of two North Berwick sides. This time we had a better performance and more team effort, with some great passing work and a fine goal from young Fraser. It was a closer contest than the final score showed. Last…

2007 Match Report – Sun 8th Nov

The 2007 team, including 2 Stemp brothers, battled both local rivals Haddington and the elements on a stormy afternoon in a friendly home fixture at Memorial park. It was a 7 a side contest of epic proportions. The passing style of Haddington coupled with an aggressive attacking formation made for a tough contest for the home side, but after a slow start we all gave a good account of ourselves. It was good to see our regulars lead by example and contribute to a great set of games, assisting in goals from Charlie, Fraser and Christian. These friendly 7 a side fixtures are a great way of preparing our skilled 2007 team for the challenges ahead; it also shows how far we have come in a short space of time.…

First festival of the season: 2007 Match Report – Sat 29th Aug

The 2007s started their first festival of the season on Saturday when the first group of players kicked of at 10am. It was a great start back and they showed great energy in every match. We dominated possession and created numerous chances and defended well. Cameron Miller showed he's got an eye for goal. Josh continues to improve every match and played well in attack and defence. Fraser and Charlie had their usual appetite with some great skill to score and setup their team mates. Harry Stemp broke well from the back with some mazy runs. We won our first 3 matches quite comfortably but I think my coaches highlight was the game against North Berwick which was 2 each. It was a competitive match and played in the right spirit. In the second…

Flashes of brilliance – Sat 29th Aug: 2004 Match Report

The 2nd half of the Season kicked off with an away trip to Longniddry. The game started with the team producing flashes of where they left off last week at the MYS Festival and, if it hadn't been for some excellent goalkeeping by the Longniddry goalie, Gullane would have scored a lot more than the 3 they did. It has always been the approach to let players experience playing in different positions which asks a lot of them but it does make them adapt to different situations in games, which will hopefully allow them to develop into more rounded players. With the Transfer Window closing on Tuesday the coaching staff are more than happy with the current playing squad and do not forsee any additions to the playing staff. Next Fixture…

2003 Match Report – 27 June 2015: A fine finish

GAAFC 2003s finished their 7-a-side careers on Saturday with a fine victory away to Musselburgh. To close the season, and with the team looking forward to 11-a-sides in a new joint Gullane-North Berwick team, we had an 8-strong squad for an away fixture on a bright, sunny morning at the Wallyford pitches. From the start, Gullane asserted themselves and were quickly rewarded with strikes from Stuart and Myles, the second an excellent team goal passed forward from Daniel in defence, via Archie and Stuart to be finished off neatly with a tap in from Myles. Dylan worked hard on the wing and was able to claim a goal of his own, followed by more from the relentless Stuart & Myles, to leave us 6 ahead by half time. Stanley came on after the first 15 mins and…

2004 Match Report – Saturday 9th May

Our 2004's had an away fixture at Dunbar where they were hosted by a very good Dunbar side. It is always a good test of how far our players have developed and yesterday proved that without doubt they have done that enormously.  With 5 players missing we were able to field a squad of 9 with Ben Holm making his debut.   With Archie and Robbie playing football out of defence  whilst ensuring very little went past them, which when it did Ali was solid in goals, and Izzy controlling the midfield it allowed Jamie, JJ and Harvey to attack the Dunbar back line.  A special mention to the Dunbar goalkeeper who stopped everything in particular a wonder strike from Izzy - I still don't understand how the keeper saved it.  …

2003 Match Report – Sat 25th April

Gullane 2003s got back into action after the Easter break with a trip to Haddington. It was a proud day for the club as all three games being played involved a Gullane team , with the 2005 and 2006 teams also playing Haddington. Gullane got off to a strong start in an evenly matched first period, with strong defending from Jasmine and Archie building the foundations for Dylan, Myles and Stuart to capitalise on. Gullane then took the lead: a good passing move finished off by our fox in the box Shay, with a shot with the outside of his foot. Gullane went two nil up with Myles galloping down the right wing and unleashing an unstoppable shot into the top right corner. Stanley came on and put in an impressive shift…

2004 Match Report – Sat 25th April

Our 1st match after the Easter break was away to our close neighbours NB Colts. The weather was in stark contrast to the past few days with rain and a cool breeze making it more like the Scotland we know and love.  With our usual goalie missing, Finn stepped up to help and soon had us all scratching our heads as to how he has managed to keep his goalkeeping prowess so well hidden.  The game started well with both teams playing well with a good standard of skillful football on show. The Gullane defence was breached but Robbie soon levelled and an Angus thunderbolt (??!!) put the team ahead: still not sure if the ball hit the net once it crossed the line.  To be honest it was a…
