What a finale!! 2004 match report – Sat 29th Nov

The 2004’s finished off the 2014 season with an away fixture on the 3G pitch at Dunbar Colts against a very good side.   Three down after the 1st 10 mins it looked like the players were looking forward to Santa or indeed perhaps the school xmas play!  Without the efforts of Ali in goal the score could have been a lot worse and it was already looking like the final match would be a bad day for the 04’s which would have been a tragedy as all the players have really developed their skills and game awareness this year.  But not to worry, a quick reshuffle at the break and the players got their match boots on and started to play better with more accurate passes using the width of a very large pitch. This led to a goal from Jamie after a fantastic passing movement from the back through Arran, Shona, Archie and Robbie before Jamie smashed the ball into the net. A similar move later on saw Robbie hold off a strong tackle to slot the ball home. The home side extended their lead to 4-2 before a pile driver from Archie brought Gullane to with a goal. It was proving a real tough match not least because of the size of the pitch. Arran was moved into the middle of the pitch and absolutely controlled the midfield. Ella on the left was strong in the tackle and her running with ball just needs a more controlled finish with a better pass or shot and she will be an asset to any side. The equalising goal came from Angus when he collected a pass from Robbie and calmly slotted the ball home to send the away support wild in true Gullane style!

A great final match really well played to everyone today, and indeed throughout the season.

Have a great Xmas and we will be back in the New Year.

Mike
