2003 Match report – Sat 7th Jan

Gullane 2003s kicked off their 2015 in fine style in a friendly against Port Seton. The team carried on from where they left off last year and stormed into a 3-0 lead with early strikes from Dylan, Stuart and Myles. The early interplay between the forward line was to hot for Seton to handle and 3 became 5 with additional goals from Dylan and Myles. The defence provided an excellent foundation, expertly marshalled by Jasmine and Daniel who defended strongly and then passed their way out of defence. One particular tackle from Jasmine in the second half was one of the highlights of the game. Gullane further extended the league with goals from a Stuart and an excellent finish by Shay, outsprinting the Port Seton defence and then expertly clipping it passed the keeper into the onion bag.

Credit to Port Seton who although 7-1 down did not let their heads go a down and with an extra couple of players to bolster their ranks, came back to score three goals in the second half although Gullane were not finished. An energetic Archie finished a marauding run with a net buster,  Myles and Stuart also added to their tally for the day with a right foot curler into the postage stamp and volley respectively.

A big well done and thanks to Alistair our 2004 stopper who came in between the posts with assured handling and  making a number of excellent saves.

A great start to the season with our next fixture and pre season derby date with North Berwick colts on 28th Feb.

Tom.
